Neat… Newsy… Not much Time

Hey there again my fellow bloggers.  First a couple little things I’ve stumbled upon while surfing the web.  Then, I’ll get into a couple little personal comments…

Drawball.com

drawballThis little experimental website is good for a quick and interesting visit.  The premise is people from around the world are given access to a kind of digital canvas that allows them to create anything they want.  I visited this site often a few months ago and was astonished by the quality of some of the artwork.  Recently however more restrictions have been applied to keep the graffiti from ruining the established artwork.

Isohunt.com

isohuntHere is a great site to find all those little illegal music, movie, television and executables that you’ve always wanted.  Isohunt.com is a huge database of millions of torrents from around the web.  It also provides user feedback which is helpful when trying to choose a dependable source file.  Keep in mind, file-sharing is illegal…if you get caught.  I’ve downloaded my fair share of files from here and I’m often pleased with the results.

The Speech Accent Archive

accent

The Speech Accent Archive is a project by George Mason University and it’s one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen.  The website gathers English speakers from around the globe to read a paragraph.  Then GMU plugs all of these speakers into a model of Earth and they let you travel around the planet to hear how others from around the world speak.  This website was a huge HUGE help to me back in my acting days.

Elements 4 Health.com

health

Finally this is one of the best natural remedy websites out there.  There is plenty of informative articles on things like; nutrition, depression, holistic medicines, fitness and current health news.  The layout is simple and very user friendly.  Don’t forget to check out their videos either.  If you feel like being a super health nut… check it out.

Other News:

I’m going to an Indian’s baseball game tonight!  Woot!  Also, going to an album release party up at a recording studio.  Media Only!  I’m stoked.  I’m stoked.  I’m stoked.  Did I mention that I’m excited?  Maybe?

New Blog Coming Soon?!

Hey guys,

I may be starting a music exclusive blog soon completely separate from this “personal” blog.  I’m interested in going from this traditional confessional format into something a bit more productive and interesting.

BUT

I need a name… what should it be called???  Hmm….

This is yet another lame attempt at video making.  Don’t judge… I think I’m getting better.  Anyways I want to get some better editing software… Windows Movie Maker sucks ass.

Also the song in this particular video is Stephen Marley’s Mind Control.  Great album by the way.  I’m also thinking about using You Tube from now on… although I won’t be able to get away with the copyrighted songs.

Enjoy!  Leave me some comments!  I need all the help I can get.

311753L

Don’t knock it before you try it.  Seriously, Easy Star All-Stars have impressed me before with their rendition of Dark Side of the Moon and Radiodread.  With their newest album Easy Star’s Lonely Hearts Dub Band the band impresses me again.  I just bought the album 30 minutes ago on ITUNES.

The album has a major balancing act to perform; keeping true to The Beatles yet engaging the reggae fans with a good funk and also being careful not to alienate The Beatles purists out there.

I hate to say it but…it fucking works!  Sgt. Pepper’s was never my favorite Beatles album yet… amazingly… it’s just become my favorite reggae album so far.  Easy Star All-Stars took especially great care of The Beatles best known singles from the album notably With a Little Help… and Lucy in the Sky…

The Amazing Atheist

So this is ,“The Amazing Atheist”, a recent obsession of mine.  Basically this guy lives on You Tube ready to pounce on anybody posting videos with silly ideas in them.  His social commentary is hilarious and well… amazing.

New Dimensions/ Soul Knocking/ Asian Revolution

Why hello there my faithful readers.  I hope your Thanksgiving was good… Or whatever that holiday is that just passed… Ahh yea that’s right!  Easter!  Who went rabbit hunting?

This is going to be a mixed bag today.  Plenty to share and to talk about so how bout I get started already…

Check THIS out.

I find this interesting.  This woman, who suffered a serious stroke, apparently has discovered a third arm.  Although the arm cannot touch solid objects like pencils or doorknobs the woman can “move it”.  Rather than feeling it all the time she can “call” on it when she wants to.Amazing stuff here.  She says that the arm can be used to itch when needed.

Next… Check THIS out.

Thailand is in the middle of a revolution.  Or well… an attempted revolution.  The protestors are loyal to the former Prime Minister Shinawatra who left the country after a coup. pushed him from office.  Shinawatra also faced corruption charges.  Thailand’s government is blaming Shinawatra for the protestors.  Shinawatra insists he has no role in leading the revolt.  The protests have escalated in violence resulting in nearly 70 deaths.  Protestors rigged busses and drove them into military and police personal.  The protestors also used homemade bombs to attack police.  The Thailand government has since declared a state of emergency.

House of Leaves… Deemed Impossible

house_of_leaves

Ladies and gents welcome to my world.  Recently I decided to turn my sites towards some reading that is a bit more difficult for a literature class I am taking.

The whole point of reading a particular book is to write an “exploratory” paper on it.

“Exploratory” meaning… well I really don’t know what it means really.  In the end my paper is going to be a 6-10 page rant on how utterly hopeless my paper is becoming.

Without further adieu I introduce you to House of Leaves written by (a completely insane) Mark Z. Danielewski.

I’m convinced the whole point of this book is to drive the reader completely fucking insane while reading its 600+ pages of text, collages, pictures, footnotes, side notes, false footnotes, upside down text, backwards text, blank pages and finally the introduction.

This book will skull fuck you into madness.

A little bit of history:  Danielewski is a film maker who set out to write and publish a book that has a very visual feel to it.  Danielewski also has a sister, who is a musician, who wrote a whole soundtrack for the book.  Danielewski initially had troubles publishing the book because of its unusual format and expensive printing techniques.  The book has been published in several editions…each edition adding more color and more mystery to the whole damned thing.

I’m not sour in any way.

To give my readers an example of the obsurdity of this monster… Every time the word House appears in the book it appears in blue text… That’s just the beginning.  Some pages only contain 4-5 words.

Please God help me…

More or less this is a great read if you have some serious time to kill.  It’s mysterious, inventive and begs the reader to do some individual investigation into the novel.  Danielewski has succeeded in creating a whole CULT of people who try to interpret the book.

Happy Reading!

So being as a “music journalist” I’ve been paying much closer attention to the music scene.  I get my weekly (or bi-weekly) dose of Rolling Stone, Relix and Alternative Press.  But, I just happened to find this album on, of all places, Youtube.com

N.A.S.A.- The Spirit of Apollo is a new concept(ish) album featuring some of the most influential artists in the music industry to day (Tom Waits, M.I.A, Kanye West, Santo Gold and Others).  It’s basically more or less a rap album and I just got it in the mail today.

Expect a more complete examination at a later time.

Until then… Enjoy this AWESOME music video.

I know it's been a while. So there is going to be several posts here...

First of all... What the hell is Maryland thinking???!

Jesus, we're all adults aren't we? Please let US (The Students) decide what we feel is watchable. First Amendment Rights are totally being Violated here...

Secondly... Have you all seen that BK commercial yet? The one featuring the little cheese burgers? That is what inspired this...

Soul
It's the writ, rot, drop of Gold
Falling through the hour glass...

But wait...
It's not your fault you're late
to the party round the table
How to stick it with a label...?
DEBATE
We got several million people IRATE
With thoughts of suicide
Cancer caused by pesticide
Being overwhelmed by Subliminal
Signs
Signs
Messages
Signs
Signs that the world is coming to an End pal
Putting it bluntly...
I saw a pair of breasts selling me
What they promised were the best
Cheese burgers that are mini
Now I just want them in me
My belly, to fill me
With this garbage they call
Society
And its role
is to rust away your soul
till it's nothing but an ash
in a bucket

Made in China, Slaved, Packaged, Sold by WalMart

So Fuck It

And lastly... How has everybody been?? Hmmm??
